Horse-drawn carriage tours.
Let Jean-Yves, our guide, take you and your group on a carriage trip around the Bay.
Departure from La Ferme Saint-Michel
Duration: 1hr 30m
Your guide will collect you outside the restaurant and take you to the site of the dam, which is the first stage of the project to restore the maritime character of the bay; the ideal place to introduce you to the issues facing the bay, the purpose of these works, and the main features of the project.
The carriage then takes you along the banks of the Couesnon to the hippodrome at the creek of Moidrey. From there your route continues past the old mills and you can admire one of the last flour-mills, which has been restored, and the magnificent view of the banks of the Couesnon and the Mont-Saint-Michel. Then the carriage takes you on to Boucey, the last village before the Mont-Saint-Michel. Finally, after crossing the marshes and polders on the east side of the bay (passing the site of the projected car park) you are brought back to La Ferme Saint-Michel.
Departure from Boucey
Duration: 3hrs
The carriage takes you along the marshes of the lower Couesnon valley and through the old quarter of Pontorson, passing its 12th century church. Your route then takes you past the old mills overlooking the Couesnon valley and joins the polders to reach the water-meadows where the famous salt-meadow sheep graze.
During the excursion, our guide will explain the project to Restore the Maritime Character of the Mont-Saint-Michel and show you the works in progress. Return along the banks of the Cuesnon.
